Michelle Obama’s brother just admitted something no one expected — he didn’t think her relationship with Barack Obama would last more than a month.
During a recent episode of their podcast, alongside guest Tracee Ellis Ross, Craig Robinson went all the way back to the beginning — and didn’t hold back.
“When Michelle first started dating Barack, we had no idea who this guy was… ‘Barack’? Who has a name like that?” he said. “I thought it would last a month, like most of your relationships.”
Michelle immediately pushed back: “That’s not true. I’ve had many long-term boyfriends.”
Craig wasn’t convinced: “I wouldn’t call those guys boyfriends.”
Then came the turning point — the test.
Craig said their father always believed you could judge a man’s character by how he plays pickup basketball. So Michelle asked him to take Barack to the court.
At first, he refused: “I’m not doing your dirty work. If he turns out to be a bad guy, I’m not going to be the one to say it.”
But eventually, he agreed.
They played.
And Barack held his own — more than that, he impressed him.
Still… Craig says he walked away thinking one thing:
“This isn’t going to last.”
But what Barack admitted years later about their marriage… completely changed the picture.
