Paris Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson, has identified as Black since at least 2017. And her explanation goes back to something deeply personal — what her father told her growing up.
In her own words, Michael would look her in the eyes and say: “You’re Black. Be proud of your roots.”
As a child, she didn’t question it. “He’s my dad — why would he lie to me?” she later explained.
Paris has also described herself as multiracial. But at her core, she identifies as Black — shaped by her upbringing and the culture her father immersed her in.
