Artist and comedian Erica Ash has died after a long battle with cancer.
She was 46 years old.
During her career, Erica was in a number of sketch comedy shows. Later, she was the star of the Starz sitcom Survivor’s Remorse.
Erica has been on MADtv’s “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” “In Contempt,” and BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” which is a faux-reality show.
She has also been in movies like Outlaw Johnny Black, Scary Movie V, and We Have a Ghost to name a few.
Erica’s family confirmed that she had died after a long illness.
“Erica was a wonderful woman and a skilled performer who made many people laugh and smile with her sharp wit and genuine zest for life,” her family said in a statement.
“We will remember her forever in our hearts.”
The Real star and TV host Loni Love, 53, also said on Monday that Erica had died in a social media post.
“Sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe’s passing,” Loni said on X.
“Erica was smart and funny.” She gave her all to her work, whether it was for Survivor’s Remorse or MadTV.
“She was always there, but she’s gone now.” I’m very sorry for her family’s loss.
In the same way, BET shared the news in an Instagram tribute to Erica.
“We send our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family,” the web page said.
“Fly high Queen.”
TRIBUTES THAT EMBRACE
A lot of her friends and famous people have been posting tributes to her on social media.
“Rest Well Pretty Girl [dove] [heart] @theericaash,” Niecy Nash, 54, wrote on Instagram next to a picture of herself and Erica.
“The last thing you texted me was, “I’m gonna make you my #wcw.” Then we had a good laugh. We will miss you! Thanks for making me laugh! “My deepest condolences go out to your family and loved ones,” she said.
Shannon Mack, who runs the YouTube talk show Pedis & Mimosas, also gave Erica a picture from when she was on the show.
“Getting a call at 8:30 this morning to tell me that @theericaash had died was not the news I wanted to hear.” She was only 46 years old!” Shannon wrote.
“Erica had a real heart and was so sweet and funny.” “I still can’t believe she’s not here,” she said.
“Thankful that I had the chance to have her on my show! “She dropped some really cool gems, and I can’t wait for you the see them.”
Shannon also said that Erica would be a guest on the first episode of the new season.
Tom Truvillion, Erica’s co-star in “In Contempt,” sent her a lot of photos and videos from on and off-screen.
“A lovely spirit. A huge amount of creativity. Thanks for sending good vibes to her family. Thomas said, “Erica made my life better.”
“She made herself and everyone else around her work very hard.” Hey Erica, we love you. And thank you for being such a work of art. “I love you.”
ALWAYS REMEMBERED
Erica went to a pop-up show of artist J. Christopher’s “Beauty Amongst Thorns” in Los Angeles, California, two weeks ago.
She also went to the wedding of actress Skye Marshall and actor Edwin Hodge in early July, where stars like Kathy Bates, Sophia Bush, and Gina Rodriguez were also present.
Erica’s last time walking the red carpet was at the Golden Globes Foundation Dinner at the end of January. She wore a lace bodysuit and a gold blazer.
Around the same time, the woman from Florida last updated her Instagram account.
As of Monday, the social media post’s comments section was full of fans who also shared their sadness.
One person wrote, “This makes me so very sad.”
“RIP to the lovely and talented actress. “Gone too soon!” said a second.
