Shannen Doherty was confirmed dead after a decade-long battle with breast cancer, which grew into metastatic stage 4. Her oncologist, Dr. Lawrence D. Pinro, said she was showered with presence, love, and support during her final moments at the hospital.
Dr. Pinro also noted that Shannen did not look eager to leave because she loved life and looked forward to more fun, even though some of her goals became wishful thinking. She was quite open about her health journey, speaking about it on the Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty podcast.
Shannen Doherty sued accounting firm over ailing health
Amid the festivities, the actress sued her former accounting firm, Tanner Mainstain Glynn and Johnson, for failing to pay insurance premiums, leading to her inability to get checks and quickly detect her cancer. The company denied Shannen’s claims, and after much back and forth, she opted for a confidential settlement.
In Shannen’s words, her cancer could have been stopped, thus saving her money on chemotherapy and mastectomy, if only the firm insured her as she hoped. She could stay positive even on her deathbed thanks to the support of her family and friends, and without doubt, her fans.
Shannen seemed to prepare ahead of her passing
Shannen seemed to have accepted her fate, especially after getting rediagnosed with the final stage of breast cancer. In preparation for her death, she told her best friend to ensure she was cremated and her ashes mixed with that of her dog. She also wished for her ashes to be used to grow a tree.
Shannen was not a fan of pity parties and wished for her funeral to be more of an intimate dinner. Interestingly, she rid her house of clutter not too long ago and had to give up building her dream home in Tennessee where she had hoped. Added to Shannen’s list of things being put in order was finalizing her split from Kurt Iswarienko just hours before her passing, which was followed up with a posthumous divorce.
