JENNIFER LOPEZ’S HEARTBREAK: CANCELLING ‘THIS IS ME…LIVE’ TOUR LEAVES FANS AND STAR DEVASTATED
Amid intensifying speculation about her private life, Jennifer Lopez has canceled her upcoming “This Is Me… Live” tour.
The singer and actress announced the cancellation Friday on her website, expressing to fans that she was “completely heartsick and devastated” by the decision.
“Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” she wrote. “I promise I will make it up to you, and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
Representatives for tour promoter Live Nation told Billboard that Lopez “is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.” They also assured ticket holders that refunds would be available at the point of purchase.
Before Friday’s announcement, Lopez had been set to kick off the “This Is Me… Live” Tour on June 26 in Orlando, Florida, followed by stops in Miami, San Francisco, and other cities. The tour was slated to conclude in August with two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
However, in recent weeks, many of Lopez’s scheduled shows faced challenges, with reports of low ticket sales leading to the cancellation of seven dates. Last month, the tour underwent a quiet rebranding as a greatest hits show following the poor reception of Lopez’s latest album, “This Is Me… Now,” which received criticism from critics and experienced a sharp decline on the Billboard charts.
Accompanying the album were a feature film, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” and a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” both of which failed to resonate strongly with audiences.
The tour cancellation news arrives amidst heightened media attention on the state of Lopez’s marriage to actor Ben Affleck. Despite tying the knot in 2022, the couple has made only a few joint appearances this spring, prompting speculation and scrutiny.
