Benjamin N. Pennington, a 26-year-old soldier from Glendale, has been laid to rest after losing his life in service to his country.
He was wounded on March 1 during an attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and passed away a week later from his injuries.
He became the seventh U.S. service member to die in the conflict.
Honored in Service
Following his passing, Pennington was posthumously promoted to Staff Sergeant, recognizing his dedication and service.
His return home was marked by a dignified transfer to Fort Knox, where his family gathered on the tarmac to receive him.
A Community Remembers
A motorcade carried him through Hardin County and back to Glendale.
Along the route, members of the community came together to pay their respects—standing in silence, honoring one of their own.
More Than a Soldier
At 26 years old, Benjamin Pennington was more than a uniform.
He was a son.
A brother.
A neighbor.
Someone who answered the call, went where he was sent, and did what was asked of him.
A Life Remembered
His sacrifice is a reminder of the cost carried by service members and their families.
He paid the highest price.
May he rest in peace.
And may his family find strength in knowing that his service and sacrifice are remembered with gratitude.
