The latest stir came during the White House “Champion of Coal” event on Wednesday, February 11. Trump signed an executive order directing the Department of Energy to buy coal power and, in a spectacle typical of his administration, was awarded a trophy—yes, for signing documents.
During his speech, Trump praised coal miners:
“I’m thrilled to welcome to the White House the men and women who light our cities… You heat our homes, fuel our factories, and turn natural resources into American riches and dreams. Our amazing coal miners.”
But some viewers noticed something unusual: a slight slur in his words. Clips of the speech circulated quickly online, prompting immediate reactions:
“My grandpa had early-stage dementia and sounded just like this sometimes,” one user wrote.

The White House responded swiftly. Spokesperson Davis Ingle told The Daily Beast:
