In 2022, Jimmy Amisial, a college student from Texas, was visiting Haiti when he came across something that would change his life forever.
In a trash area, he discovered a newborn baby who had been abandoned. The child was alive but in immediate danger. Without hesitation, Jimmy stepped in to ensure the baby received medical care and protection.
He later named the child Emilio Angel Jeremiah.
What followed was not a viral moment or a short-term act of charity. It became a long-term commitment.
Jimmy began the complex and often lengthy process of legally adopting Emilio through both Haitian and U.S. authorities. International adoption from Haiti involves strict regulations, background checks, court approvals, and coordination between governments. It can take years to complete.
Despite being a full-time student with limited financial resources, Jimmy has continued to take responsibility for Emilio’s care. He has covered medical expenses and daily needs while navigating the legal system. Through public fundraising efforts, he has raised more than $60,000 to support the process and ensure stability for the child.
As of the most recent confirmed reports, Emilio has not yet permanently relocated to the United States, and the adoption process remains ongoing.
Jimmy has consistently stated that he is following every legal requirement and waiting patiently for official approvals.
