Guinness World Record Holder Has 28 Fingers and Toes — and Embraced Every One

In a world full of strange and surprising records, one story stands out for its simplicity and humanity.

Devendra Suthar, a carpenter from Himatnagar in the Indian state of Gujarat, has officially entered the Guinness World Records for having the most fingers and toes on a living person.

Devendra was born with a rare congenital condition known as polydactyly, which causes a person to be born with extra digits. Instead of the usual ten fingers and ten toes, he has 14 fingers and 14 toes — a total of 28 digits.

For many people born with this condition, surgery is often performed in childhood to remove the extra fingers or toes. Devendra, however, chose a different path. He kept his digits, lived with them, and accepted them as part of who he is. That decision would later bring him international recognition.

After medical verification, Guinness World Records confirmed that Devendra holds the record, with no other living person documented to have more digits than him.

Despite his unusual appearance, Devendra leads a normal, hardworking life. He works as a carpenter, supports his family, and goes about his daily routine like anyone else. His condition has never stopped him from earning a living or contributing to his community.

More than a medical curiosity, Devendra’s story is a reminder that being different does not mean being limited. In a world that often pressures people to “fit in,” his life shows the power of acceptance, resilience, and self-confidence.

Sometimes, what makes someone stand out is not something to hide — but something to own.
