Meet Neil Harbisson — the world’s first person to have an antenna implanted in his skull… and the first human officially recognized as a cyborg.
Born completely colorblind, Neil saw life only in shades of grey. But in the early 2000s, he made a radical choice: he had a surgically attached antenna installed in his skull. This device picks up light frequencies and turns them into sound vibrations, allowing him to hear every color — from deep reds to ultraviolet light human eyes can’t even detect.
To him, colors aren’t visual… they’re musical.
His antenna isn’t a gadget he wears — it’s a part of him. So much so that when he renewed his passport, the government had to accept the antenna in his passport photo because it was considered an extension of his body.
A man who couldn’t see color…
built a way to experience more colors than any of us ever will.
A real-life cyborg.
A living example of how far humans can push the limits of biology and technology.
