Tyler Robinson, the accused assassin of Charlie Kirk, appeared to have an online fixation with furries, while his live-in transgender partner expressed support for President Joe Biden and made light of mental illness in social media posts.
Lance Twiggs, 22, an aspiring professional gamer and Robinson’s roommate, wrote in a 2022 Reddit post: “We are riding with Biden on this glorious subreddit.”
Twiggs, who comes from a conservative Christian family in Utah, is transitioning from male to female and was in a relationship with Robinson, Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed Sunday, per the New York Post.
The Reddit comment appeared on a satirical subreddit known for sarcastic posts, with a later entry referencing former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush. “One day Jeb will be president and America will fully reform into a utopia,” the comment in the same thread says.
The social media activity was first reported by the Daily Mail.
In another post, Twiggs mentioned that he had been receiving targeted ads for treatments related to schizophrenia and other mental health conditions on social media.
“I have been getting recommended treatments for schizophrenia, bpd [borderline personality disorder], and a brain tumor recently by my social media advertisements. this meme is perfect, thanks,” said the social media post.
His posts were rarely political but often referenced his gender transition and his former Christian faith.
The revelations come as investigators examine Robinson’s ties to the “furry” subculture.
According to friends who spoke with the Daily Mail, an account on the website FurAffinity.net — known for sexualized images of cartoon animal characters — used a username matching one Robinson employed across his gaming and online profiles.
Twiggs was reportedly “aghast” upon learning of Robinson’s alleged crimes and has been “extremely cooperative” with investigators, law enforcement sources told Axios.
“It’s pretty clear that Robinson’s roommate knew a lot and didn’t say anything after the killing, so they’re a person of interest officially and are cooperating. We want to keep it that way,” said one official.
“That’s what happened? Oh my God, no. Here are all the messages,” Twiggs told authorities, per the source.
Robinson’s online activity reflected a mix of liberal politics, gamer-style humor, and post-ironic memes. Once raised in the Mormon faith, he had left the church well before the alleged assassination.
Four former classmates from Pine View High School told The Post they remembered Robinson as a quiet, reserved student who mostly kept to himself.
“He seemed pretty normal and average to me,” Justin Lee, who took some classes with Robinson, told The Post.
“The only thing that makes me say ‘That sounds about right’ was when ‘notices bulge owo’ was written on one of the bullet casings,” he added.
Robinson, 22, has been placed under “special watch” until he has a mental health evaluation, per officials.
Robinson will remain in the Utah County Sheriff’s Department’s special housing unit under “special watch” to allow officials to closely monitor his mental health. The sheriff’s department warned that the procedure could take a few days.
Robinson will keep going with the classification process to find out where he will stay when he is in jail after he is cleared.
“He will continue to be monitored by mental, medical, and custody staff throughout the duration of his stay,” the sheriff’s department said.
The department added that the “special watch” status is given for several reasons, such as the type of crime the suspect is being held on, behavioral problems, violent behavior, or suicidal words made during the arrest.
The sheriff’s office said it hasn’t been made aware of any specific suicidal thoughts or words about Robinson.
Robinson was caught after being on the run for 33 hours.
