The transgender lover of Charlie Kirk’s accused killer has seemingly disappeared from his Utah hometown six weeks after the political assassination that rattled the nation.

Lance Twiggs, 22, has gone off the radar since his boyfriend, Tyler Robinson, allegedly gunned down the Turning Point USA co-founder before sending Twiggs a series of text messages confessing to the murder, federal authorities say.

Twiggs has stayed far from his $1,800-a-month apartment on the outskirts of the quiet desert city of St. George. While officials insist he’s cooperating, he has not engaged with reporters as Robinson sits in a Salt Lake City jail awaiting trial.

Robinson briefly appeared in court Monday, echoing a strategy used by another accused political assassin, Luigi Mangione. The Utah native asked to wear civilian clothes for future appearances, arguing that an orange jumpsuit could bias potential jurors — and also requested to ditch the shackles. The judge agreed to the first but shot down the second —a partial win for the defense.

Mangione made a similar bid in his own case, though his judge wasn’t as forgiving — and he ended up back in his federal fatigues. Robinson is due back in court Jan. 16, with an arraignment set for Jan. 30.

The accused shooter and Twiggs — whom investigators refer to with male pronouns — started living together after Twiggs’ devout Mormon parents reportedly kicked him out in 2018. The family may have since patched things up: Venmo records show his parents have been sending him money for “prescriptions” and “gas,” including a payment from his dad just months before Kirk’s killing.

Whether Twiggs is back home with his parents or still in St. George remains unclear. His Infiniti FX35 now sits in his parents’ driveway — four hours from Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot.

Neighbors say the once-quiet apartment has been a ghost town since Robinson, also 22, surrendered to police. “It definitely is a shock it happened here,” said Jesse Riley, who lives nearby, to the New York Post. “It’s a quiet neighborhood. You know your neighbor on your left or your right, but people are pretty isolated.”

Twiggs’ relationship with his strict Mormon parents was rocky for years — but exactly why depends on who you ask.
