In a clear display of the federal government’s renewed focus on border security, multiple law enforcement operations have led to arrests and convictions across Texas. The actions highlight the administration’s escalating zero-tolerance stance toward illegal entry and associated crimes.
Violent Encounter at Border Checkpoint in Katy, Texas
A routine inspection at a U.S. Highway 57 checkpoint near Katy turned violent when 26-year-old Texas resident Kevin Dominguezattempted to smuggle a person across the border.
After a Border Patrol canine alerted agents to potential contraband, officers opened the trunk of Dominguez’s sedan and discovered an individual hidden inside. Rather than comply, Dominguez accelerated in reverse, striking a Border Patrol agent, and fled the scene, triggering a high-speed pursuit.
Aerial surveillance later captured the vehicle’s occupants fleeing on foot into an open field. One of the individuals was later confirmed to be an undocumented noncitizen from Honduras.
