Barron Trump did not appear for the start of sophomore classes this week at New York University’s Greenwich Village campus, according to multiple reports.

The 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump was expected to resume studies at the Stern School of Business in Manhattan, but several NYU security officers confirmed to People that he has not been on campus, The New York Post’s Page Six reported.

“From what I was told,” one officer said, “he’s doing a semester at another NYU campus.”

Officials did not specify the location, citing security reasons. NYU maintains degree-granting campuses in Downtown Brooklyn, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, along with learning centers in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Page Six has learned that Trump is residing at the White House and attending classes at the school’s Washington, D.C. campus. That program accepts up to 120 students each semester and focuses on politics, public policy, history, economics and journalism. The move keeps him close to both parents, who remain based in the capital during the president’s second term.

During his freshman year, Barron lived at Trump Tower in Manhattan while commuting to NYU’s Washington Square campus. He occasionally flew to Palm Beach, Florida, to spend time with his father at Mar-a-Lago, but his regular presence in New York made him one of the most visible presidential children on a college campus.

Even without attending classes in person this fall, Trump has stayed connected with classmates. Sources told Page Six he regularly communicates with friends through Xbox and Discord, two gaming platforms popular with students.

“He has added it to his repertoire,” one source said. “It’s his communication platform of choice.”

An insider explained that Trump avoids sharing his phone number because of security concerns. “It’s his work around,” the source said. “He’s still trouble shooting.”

The same source emphasized that the president’s son is selective in how he communicates, sticking to people he already knows. “It’s gamer bro culture, they ask each other for their gamer tag,” the insider said. “He knows the people.”

The decision to shift campuses follows a freshman year that drew attention from both classmates and the media. Trump first hinted at his youngest son’s academic direction in an interview with The Post last August, shortly before Barron was spotted at NYU.

“He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” the president told “Kayal and Company” on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

The relocation also comes as Melania Trump has taken on an expanded role in her husband’s administration. The first lady has spearheaded anti-revenge porn legislation, promoted an education initiative on artificial intelligence, and pressed Russia to return abducted Ukrainian children.

She has been active on the diplomatic stage as well, traveling with the president on relief trips and joining him for official ceremonies. Earlier this year she unveiled a postage stamp honoring former first lady Barbara Bush, celebrated Easter at the White House, and attended the opening night of “Les Misérables” at the Kennedy Center.

Her work has included urging President Trump to adopt a tougher stance toward Moscow as Russia continues its strikes on Ukrainian civilians. The first lady was also on hand in North Carolina with the president after Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the state.

As Barron Trump continues his education in Washington, he remains in close proximity to his parents, balancing academic life with the unique circumstances of being the son of a sitting president.
