In what the authorities have described as a “deliberate act of violence,” a shooting took place in Minneapolis during a Catholic school Mass to commemorate the beginning of the school year. The shooting resulted in the deaths of at least two youngsters.
According to officials from law enforcement, the shooter has been killed. At a health care facility in the Minneapolis area, children between the ages of 6 and 14 are receiving treatment for injuries, with some of them being in severe condition.
Reports indicate that the attacker fired through windows at individuals who were seated in pews, resulting in at least 17 injuries.
Following a tragic shooting that occurred at a local Catholic school, two children between the ages of six and fourteen are currently receiving medical treatment in a healthcare facility in the Minneapolis region.
Thomas Wyatt, Chair of Emergency Medicine at Hennepin Healthcare, stated on Wednesday that nine of the eleven patients who are now being treated at Hennepin Healthcare as a result of the attack belong to children ranging in age from six to eleven years old.
Wyatt mentioned that there are certain pediatric patients who are in a critical situation.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the authorities reported that the incident had resulted in the deaths of at least two children. Police have stated that the gunman has been killed, and that there is no longer a threat to the community that is ongoing.
Dr. Thomas Wyatt, chair of emergency medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, stated during a press conference that four of the eleven patients required surgical intervention.
Wyatt reported that nine of the patients were children, and only two were adults.
“Up to this point in time, there have been no fatalities related to any of those patients that were brought to our organization,” Wyatt said.
Chief Brian O’Hara of the Minneapolis Police Department stated that the perpetrator of the attack that resulted in the opening of fire at Annunciation Catholic School approached the church structure from one side.
The police chief described the obstruction as “like a 2-by-4,” as it appeared to block at least two doors on that side. It was brought to his attention that other entrances in the building were not barred.
In a statement, O’Hara stated that the investigators have not yet concluded if the shooter was a former student or an employee of the institution.
President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident, officials said, adding: “The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation.”
“I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!” the president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

We are in communication with our interagency partners, and will share more information as soon as it becomes available. I am praying for the victims of this heinous attack and their families.”
