As the Senate moved closer to finalizing President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” the president took to social media early Tuesday to warn that failure to reach an agreement would result in the largest tax increase in history.

His message came amid a marathon “vote-a-rama,” where lawmakers from both parties spent hours submitting amendments to the massive bill, Fox News reported.

“Republicans, the One Big Beautiful Bill, perhaps the greatest and most important of its kind in history, gives the largest Tax Cuts and Border Security ever, Jobs by the Millions, Military/Vets increases, and so much more. The failure to pass means a whopping 68% Tax increase, the largest in history!!!,” he posted.

There is currently no clear end in sight as Republican leaders work to secure enough support for the bill while battling Democratic amendments aimed at blocking it.

With a slim majority, GOP leaders cannot afford to lose more than three Republican votes. Two senators—Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky—have already signaled their opposition.

Tillis announced that he would not seek reelection following Trump’s threats to support a primary challenger against him this week.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota said Republicans are “figuring out how to get to the end game,” though the conclusion of the vote-a-rama is expected to stretch well into the middle of the night.

The bill, if passed, will enact Trump’s domestic tax and spending agenda that includes $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, according to the latest CBO analysis — which are often wrong. Also, it would make permanent tax cuts passed early in Trump’s first term.

According to Democrats, the package would also eliminate billions in green energy tax credits, jeopardizing investments in wind and solar power.

That rollback has angered billionaire SpaceX, Starlink, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the former head of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, who has threatened to start a new political party if the BBB is ultimately passed sans the green energy credits.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he said on X, a platform he owns.

Trump addressed Musk’s complaints in a lengthy Truth Social post.

“Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one,” the president posted.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” Trump added.

The bill also includes $1.2 trillion in waste, fraud, and abuse cuts to Medicaid and food stamp programs, tightening eligibility requirements and altering federal reimbursements to states. Additionally, it allocates $350 billion to bolster border and national security efforts, including funding for deportations.

While Musk frequently expresses his opinions, his anti-Republican rhetoric has significantly intensified in recent days. On Monday, he suggested that if the Republican bill passed, he would swiftly form a new “America Party,” The New York Times reported.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” he wrote in one of several Monday posts to his 220 million followers on X. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”
