Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Former President Barack Obama met in 1988 and married in 1992. The pair share two daughters, Sasha and Malia, and always seemed to have a happy marriage. Recently, however, Michelle Obama has been noticeably absent from several big events, including President Donald Trumpâs inauguration, which sparked divorce rumors. The pair kept quiet about speculations for months, but Michelle finally set the record straight. She told the Work In Progress With Sophia Bush podcast that her life is busy.âThatâs the thing that we as women, I think we struggle with disappointing people,â Michelle said. âI mean, so much so that this year people wereâŚthey couldnât even fathom that I was making a choice for myself that they had to
assume that my husband and I are divorcing.â
Michelle Obama Doesnât Like The Stereotypes
Michelle Obama said that itâs totally appropriate for a woman to make her own choices about what she wants to do, and just because she isnât pinned to her husbandâs side every minute of the day doesnât mean they will divorce.
âBut thatâs what society does to us,â she said. âWe start actually, finally going, âWhat am I doing? Who am I doing this for?â And if it doesnât fit into the sort of stereotype of what people think we should do, then it gets labeled as something negative and horrible.â

On Valentineâs Day, Michelle shared a picture of herself alongside her husband, and they appeared very much in love.
She wrote, âIf thereâs one person I can always count on, itâs you, @BarackObama. Youâre my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentineâs Day, honey!â
A fan shared her hope in the comment section that Michelle Obama and Barack Obama never divorce. âYup!! Yâall better NEVER break up! Love yâall!!â
