Here’s Why You Must ‘Throw A Water Bottle Under The Hotel Bed’
Some vacationers have voiced worries about hotel room safety, believing that someone might be hiding in the closet or beneath the bed.
Esther, a KLM flight attendant with hundreds of hotel stays under her belt, gave her best “hotel hacks” for being safe when traveling.
An innovative method to “check that no one is under the bed without looking” was disclosed by Esther. She advised guests to just “throw a bottle under it” since someone might be lurking there if it doesn’t come out on the other side.
American flight attendant Kat Kamali also emphasised the importance of checking “if there’s anyone in your room” immediately upon check-in. She advised against saying your “room number out loud” and recommended a thorough check “behind the curtains and under the bed” upon arrival.
Nassim, a former flight attendant, told Express.co.uk a terrifying story from her early flying days and offered her own safety advice. She stated, “When I started flying I heard of a story where a crew member had gone into their hotel room and not checked it out properly and someone had hidden in the room.”
Following an attack as a result of this occurrence, Nassim developed a strict safety protocol that she followed each time she entered a hotel room.
To make sure no one was hiding, she would perform a thorough search of the room, using her luggage case to hold the door open.
She would examine the bathroom, beneath the bed, inside the wardrobes, under the table, and behind the curtains, according to the Express.
“I would never ever enter a room without doing that,” she said. The astute traveler noted that she always keeps her suitcase by the door for safety reasons when staying at hotels without security chains.
Detailing the reasoning, the seasoned flyer explained: “I would place my bag by the door in case someone opened it from the outside, then it would make a noise.” Esther offered various ingenious tips to enhance the hotel stay experience for globetrotters.
Pondered over a toppled cardboard cup in the hotel bathroom when trying to prop up your toothbrush? Esther has a clever solution: “Put it the other way around and poke your toothbrush through it! Washbasins are not hygienic,” she suggests.
Wrinkled garments causing a fuss? Esther’s practical advice is simple yet effective: “Your clothes are creased? Hang your clothes in the bathroom while showering! Dry wash it and it’s like new again! “
For those in a rush with a foggy mirror, Esther recommends: “Mirror steamed up and you have to leave quickly? Blow dry where necessary and it’s gone in no time.” Caught without a speaker for your tunes?
Esther shares a nifty trick: “No speaker with you? Put your phone in a mug and you have loud sound! ” she adds. Susi Dorigoni took to social media, commenting that these tips are “super useful tips”.
Echoes of approval were found in the comments section as one person remarked: “Super tips, especially the one under the bed! “ While another chimed in: “I’m dying about that bottle of water under the bed.”
Oey, a fellow traveller, imparted his own smart hack: “I put the TV remotes in bags because there is no sensitive touching feature, and there is no way housekeeping washes them.”
