A Utah Father And Daughter Are Dead After A Bulldozer Fell On Top Of Their Pickup Truck Over The Weekend
Over the weekend, a bulldozer landed on top of a pickup truck belonging to a father and daughter from Utah, killing them.
The Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release that Richard David Hendrickson, the CEO and president of Lifetime Products, an outdoor furniture firm, and his 16-year-old daughter Sally perished in the collision at Ogden Canyon.
The deadly collision, according to authorities, occurred at 12:49 p.m. on Saturday after a tow vehicle towing a small bulldozer on a highway ran into a sharp right-hand curve.
The bulldozer apparently broke loose from the tow truck and slid toward Hendrickson’s GMC pickup due to the sharp bend.
At the scene, Hendrickson and Sally were declared deceased. According to the announcement, two further adult passengers departed with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lifetime Products paid tribute to Hendrickson in a statement, calling him “more than a company leader.“
“Richard was more than a company leader – he was also a visionary and a friend to many within our business and the wider community,” the corporation stated. “He is well-known for having a uniquely broad and extensive set of talents and interests.“
For killing a woman and her baby in a 141 mph crash, a drunk driver faces 17 years in prison.
“His mechanical aptitude is legendary, often surprising the engineers throughout the company. He also excelled in finance, management, and sales,” the statement reads. “Above all this, though, was his caring focus on people, both within Lifetime and among its vendors and suppliers. He was truly special in his ability to respectfully engage others, regardless of their position or level within the supply chain. His ability to connect with people bound all of his other talents together in a very special way.”
Richard had a profitable company and served as the stake president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In his condolence message to the Hendrickson family on X, Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated, “Richard was a friend and incredible leader.“
“We are heartbroken by his tragic passing with his daughter Sally,” Cox stated. “We mourn with the surviving members of his family and pray they will find comfort and healing.“
